Chapter 10
The planet Nectar could be seen moving towards earth
millions of miles away. In other words, Nectar was in
our neighborhood like a lawless entity that didn’t give a
damn about earth. Calculations had the planet passing by
within a hundred miles of Earth where the atmospheres of
the two planets would merge in the upper stratosphere. The
Russian satellite MarxC brought back soil samples in 2013,
and Dr. Shoshutzin, being the most respected interstellar
scientist in Russia, analyzed them. As it turned out, Nectar
was a miraculous planet providing the microorganisms
needed to spark the precious Green Gem to life. However,
he only let the Russian Federal Science Society know about
the bacteria that verified life on the planet. He found a mysterious
substance that appeared to be a powerful force in the
process of creating life, but he needed time to analyze it. He
had reason not to reveal his discovery to his government—
the Russian government had one of the worst records on
fossil fuel abuse in the world. He also didn’t like the fact
that President Bledlutzin had moved his country to an authoritative
regime very similar to the era of the old Soviet
Union and he pulled Kazakhstan back under Russia’s domain
in 2023. The government wanted to keep Dr. Shoshutzinbusy. He had completed the stealth research that
Russia had long desired. No, he did not give them the perfect
design, although the material had the best qualities for
Stealth yet invented. He’d included a hybrid blend fabric on
the Stealth Project that could only be detected by an atomic
receiver on the Island of Hawaii; the forgotten state. Even
Russia paid little attention to the beautiful chain of islands.
China had leased Hawaii for fifty years as the United States
struggled to overcome the massive debt left by the first
Thornbush administration.
In 2015, using the soil samples from the planet Nectar,
and extracting mitochondria from the cells, Dr. Shoshutzin
discovered what he affectionately named, ‘Sparks’, the active
ignition fire for all life, the mitochondria, or power centers,
in these cells were hundreds of times more energized
than the ones on Earth. He was certain Sparks would transform
the history of the world. Sparks, he soon learned,
jump-started dormant plant seeds. No planting, no water
necessary when he implanted the energizer from Spark’s
cells, the seeds burst into their growing process forming
mature plants within hours. He grew tomatoes, cucumbers,
and bell peppers. He injected one cell of Sparks at 09:00,
and by 14:00, he harvested delicious vegetables. Over the
next ten years, he tested and retested a maze of scientific
probability until 2023, when he sent his equation through a
network of computers filled with more ‘intelligence’ than
one man could gather in ten lifetimes. After five hours, a
new equation appeared on the screen, an equation only he
could understand because he held the key to the solution.
He touched the screen and a hologram appeared on his desk.
He developed the core substance for Green Gem, the substance
that would generate photosynthesis capable particles.
Green Gem particles would reduce tremendous amounts of
CO2 when released. Dr. Shoshutzin spent countless hours
going over his calculations. He needed to launch the Green
Gem by 18:00 on December 15, 2025 to get the maximum
Spark dynamic, to have the highest probability for success.
At this time, the Planet Nectar would be closest to earth,
68 James C. Taylor
and provide an added boost to the Green Gem. Dr. Shoshutzin
considered this phenomenon like a bonus in his favor.
Even in 2012 when the Hopi Elder, Tall Bear, spoke at
the UN Earth Conference about the fragile state of life on
Earth, Dr. Shoshutzin knew he spoke the truth. Only a miracle
could counter the carnage from the overuse of fossil fuels,
or Fossil Fire Effect. FFE would someday result in
catastrophic natural events that had a high probability of
ending humankind’s era on Earth. However, Dr. Shoshutzin
intended to reverse the FFE in time to save the planet. He
diligently worked on what became his obsession: creating
the Green Gem. He reasoned, if ‘Sparks’ jolted life on Nectar,
it would here on earth as well. Well, it had indeed, he
reflected. The bacteria had been evolving for millions of
years, evolving at the speed of evolution, or molasses. Yet,
Sparks accelerated the growth of organic substance on
earth, but not on Nectar. He surmised the high content of
CO2 in our atmosphere, increased levels, threatened the
plants, therefore, the response required was the same for all
species to grow and reproduce as quickly as possible, the
life Principle, the need to thrive. Of course, he thought,
pouring a jigger of Cognac and continued reasoning, the
Plant Kingdom was a necessary part in sustaining life,
Photo Greek, for light. All right, yes, synthesis is Greek for
pull together. Sure, pull together the light and water and the
plants and you get one of the key ingredients of life on our
planet. Oxygen. Plants, rainforests, the ecosystem must be
respected and nurtured within the Life Principle, but humankind
came to see nature as something to control and
conquer. Why would one species engage in the rape and
depletion of a species that provided the necessary ingredient
for life on the same planet, the only life-sustaining
planet for billions of miles? Man will have to answer that
paradoxical question one day―if the species survives. A
battle against the Principle of Life is madness, in the truest
sense, Dr. Shoshutzin surmised as he looked out his apartment
window and saw a man and woman, arm in arm,
Green Gem 69
slowly walking through the snow and two children across
the street making a snowman.
